Important Note About Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation

What is Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation?

On July 1, 2014, Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) will come into effect.  This new federal law is designed to give Canadians more control over the commercial electronic messages (CEMs) they receive.

A CEM is any message sent to an electronic address that encourages the recipient to purchase a product or service.

What is considered a Commercial Electronic Message (CEM)?

A Commercial Electronic Message (CEM) includes communication sent by:

  • Email
  • Text Message
  • Instant Messenger
  • Social Media

This also includes communication where a secondary message is included and commercial in nature.

How BCS follows CASL

To ensure that Bearspaw Christian School is CASL compliant, the following will be incorporated into our current practices;

  • Clearly identify BCS as the sender of the CEM (including name and contact information)
  • Provide an easy-to-use option to unsubscribe to BCS marketing communications within the CEM

Why is CASL important?

As a valued customer, it is important to keep you up to date regarding the latests events and services that BCS has to offer.  However, if you feel that the information you are receiving is not relevant, it is essential that BCS provides you with the right options to help manage your communication preferences.

Please visit Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation website to learn more about this new Act.

If you have a concern or wish to file a complaint, please contact us.  For direct questions regarding CASL, please e-mail
